The Return of The Butcher
The Butcher is a recurring character in the Diablo franchise. He initially appeared as a deadly early boss in the first Diablo and appeared again as the Act 1 final boss in Diablo 3.
In Diablo 4, The Butcher can appear as a randomly-occurring boss in Dungeons and Helltides, remaining just as deadly as his earlier counterparts. When killed, he has the chance to drop his signature weapon, The Butcher's Cleaver, as a Unique One-Handed Axe or as a Mount Trophy.
Meshif Returns in Act 3
In Act 3, when the Wanderer (player character) and Lorath look for somebody to help them cross the northern sandstorms and reach Elias, they stumble upon and get assistance from a strange man named Meshif.
Meshif is a returning character from Diablo 2, being the person who bridges the game's Acts 2 and 3 by bringing the player character from Lut Gholein into Kurast. In Diablo 4, Meshif also assists the Wanderer by leading them to Elias and even references Deckard Cain, another character from previous Diablo titles.
Andariel and Duriel from Diablo 2
Andariel and Duriel, the bosses for Diablo 2's Acts 1 and 2, also return as bosses in Diablo 4. Players fight Andariel as the final boss of Act 4, while Duriel acts as one of the bosses blocking the path to Hell in Act 6.
Lyndon the Scoundrel in Backwater
Lyndon the Scoundrel, one of the player character's Followers in Diablo 3, also returns in Diablo 4 as the head of Backwater in Hawezar. Despite being older, Lyndon keeps his cheeky attitude and trusty crossbow when fighting alongside the player character during The Greater Good Side Quest chain.
