From Social Media Star to Actress, Mercedes Blanche Talks ‘The Boys’ - CelebMix (2024)

Mercedes Blanche (Mercedesz Meszaros) has been turning heads on social media to millions of die-hard followers, and now they get to see her on a big screen. The Hungarian-born Canadian star has successfully transitioned into acting after landing a superb role on Amazon Prime’s ‘The Boys’ Season 3 as X-Ray Supe and as Maddie in the new TV show ‘Robyn Hood’ from Director X. With acting jobs lined up from Los Angeles, California to Budapest, Hungary, Mercedes is sweeping the entertainment industry from coast to coast, with a growing international following.

Celeb Mix caught up with Mercedes to find out more about how she got started in acting and her role in ‘The Boys’.

What inspired you to get your start in acting?

I think I always wanted to do some form of entertainment from watching my favorite music and tv idols on screen, but there is one defining moment for me that really made it all click. A little background, I’m one of those 90s kids who grew up on Harry Potter. I started reading the first book when I was around 10, and I was hooked. This was when the books were still in the works.

I had always enjoyed reading as a kid, but I had never experienced this kind of obsession. The world of Harry Potter was very real for me and my friends. I was completely emotionally and mentally invested.

So, when the first movie came out in theatres, obviously I went to go see it…

Sitting in that movie theatre, I remember being so amazed. I remember that Cineplex in Budapest looked just like I had imagined in my head. Nothing else looked as I imagined, but that was okay! It was still interesting! It was still the same story, the same characters, (mostly) the same lines… It was so amazing for me that something that had previously existed only in my imagination was now being played out in real life by kids my age!

That was it. That’s what I wanted to do. I wanted to do what those kids were doing.

You play “X-Ray Supe” in Amazon Prime’s ‘The Boys.’ Give us some insight into your character and in what ways you relate to her.

In ‘The Boys’ I played the role of X-RAY Supe. It was a fun experience, my first big acting gig. I got a face cast mask and everything (they molded my face for 3 hours for the mask) which was kind of fun. I also went through weeks of process for the costume.

Was it hard to dig into that mindset and personality?

I did my research on comic books and magazines. Went to those super cool nerdy looking stores and just bought everything related to the original The Boys. It was so hard to find X-RAY and her characteristics but eventually I did. Every supe has their background story. I would love to do something involving hers in the future.

Which is more important, a good director, or a good script?

That’s a tough one. I would say both, but I am aiming towards a good script. I have worked with rude directors before who absolutely pushed me out of my comfort zone, but it was for the better good. If you have a great director but a bad script it is very hard to manage to make it look and sound good on camera. But if you have both you are unstoppable.

Who are some actors you looked up to growing up and are there any you would love to work with in the future?

Angelina Jolie. I think she is just a superhuman. She became the Goodwill Ambassador for the United National high commissioner for Refugees in 2012 after getting personally aware of worldwide Humanitarian crises while filming Tomb Raider in Cambodia. Her courage is beyond admirable for visiting highly volatile areas as a Goodwill Ambassador. She visited Sudan during voracious conflict there, she also visited Chad during its civil war and Iraq and Libya during the Libyan Revolution and risked her life. Just a few things what makes me her outstanding from any other actors/actresses. Very hard to find someone as humanitarian as her.

How do you define success?

Having as much time and financial freedom as you want to spend on your loved ones. To me that is success

You’re very active on social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram. What is your favorite platform to share content on and connect with your fans?

I would say TikTok. I keep it more comedian and satire there. I post more work-related things on Instagram.

Tell us about a viral video you created?

I really like to make funny or educational videos. I have started this niche along my European side and show the world how Americans and Europeans do or say things differently. That video was a huge hit with 20 million views.

How did you come up with the material?

I get inspired after talking to my mom on the phone. Seeing her doing things differently always makes me giggle.

What else can fans look forward to seeing from you this year?

I can’t say it yet. But I will keep you updated.
